5 important math or scientist that have an impact on civilization sence 1600b.c.?
In no particular order, I'd say Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and Curie.
Reply:Galileo, Newton, Maxwell, Einstein, Hawking
Reply:Zero, Heliocentric solar system, Microbiology, Genetics, and Democracy.
Reply:Since 1600 bc: Pythagoras, Euclid, Newton, Galileo, Einstein

But that doesn't even scratch the surface of the great minds.

Hawking, Copernicus, Da Vinci, Chandrasekhar, Kepler, Benjamin Franklin, and many, many more round out this list. And many of these were western thinkers and scientists. We can't forget about the asian cultures, and more importantly the Middle-Eastern Islamic culture during the Dark Ages of the West.
Reply:only 5????? Archimedes, Pythagorus, Galileo, Newton, Einstien
Reply:Galileo, Newton, Maxwell, Darwin, Einstein.
Reply:Newton, Darwin, Einstein, Fleming, Tesla, Copernicus, Aristotle, Curie, Da vinci, Bell, Edison, and the guy who figured out about germs
Reply:According to the US Science Academic Society - Archimedes, Michael Faraday, Marie Curie, Nikola Tesla and Yoshiro Nakamatsu.
Reply:I would have to say Nikola Tesla first.. without him we would have no electricity. The other 4 would have to be Maxwell, Newton, Einstein and Marconi...also Banting and Salter.
Reply:Faraday (Electricity)

Copernicus (Heliocentricity)

Roentgen (X-rays) - hospital treatments etc

Nobel (Dynamite)

Edison (Virtually anything!) - light bulbs, television etc

Why include Einstein - what did he ever do for civilization?
