Math Question?

So the math problem is this

2/c+1 , - 1

_________

2 +, 5/c+1

So I times both side by the LCD (c+1) to get rid of the fractions

And I got this

2 - (c+1)

________

2(c+1) + 5

Am I doing it right so far ? and If I am , In the numerator am I supposed to multiply the - with (c+1

Math Question?
What is the purpose of the comma?

(2-c-1)/(2c+2+5)

= (1-c)/(2c+7)
Reply:Yes. You're doing it right so far.

Yes. Mulitply the "-" with (c+1) to get "-c-1", and combine similar terms in the numerator. Then, multiply the "2" in the denominator by "(c+1)" and combine similar terms. Simplify the resulting fraction (if possible), and you'll have your answer.
