Stupid mistakes in math?

everytime i do my math hw or take a math test (algebra 1)


i tend to miss something maybe write a number wrong or miss something, make a small mistake and I'll look over my homework a few times but cannot find the mistake until someone points it out and I'm always concentrated but do you know how to prevent these mistakes. I never have time to check my math tests either b/c I won't finish until the bell rings. Which really sucks.

if ur "stupid mistake" is writing the wrong number: force urself to write it right by practicing in homework, do the WHOLE problem again if u right the wrong #. this will help ur body stop making the mistake.





If u dont have time, then it probably means your not proficient in the knowledge enough to finish it and still have time to check work. I would practice the problems more so i am procient in it and have time to check over during test.





check ur work once in a while, not until the whole test is done





Write ur name and other stuff last, so u get that time to work on test adn check over answers. Since you have to write the test id and blah blah blah, your teacher will give u a chance to do it at the end.

A math teacher used to say that the more you practice the math, the faster you become, and the more you understand it (through working out your own mistakes). Maybe this seems a little obvious, or not-as-easy-as-it-seems, but practice the math. A lot. Until you understand it so well that you can do it almost as if without thinking. Then you can concentrate on the other requirements, like not making so many errors in the calculations. A common answer might be that you will eventually stop making these errors. maybe.


What is happening now is great. When other people correct you, keep this in mind. Find similar problems where you might make the same mistake. Just keep track of these mistakes. You might notice that you stopped making these little errors... Learn from your mistakes, as simple or small as they may be. You'll get it.
