What to do: Everyone in my college math class cheats?

So I go to a smaller private university. First off, my teacher is a total bimbo. Ok so every kid in my class programs thier formulas in thier calculators b/c our teacher is too big of a ditz to notice. The thing is... I do not cheat. I mean, I probably should because I am like, a C math student... but I really, morally just cant do it. So it really urks me that 3/4 of my class cheats on tests... must be nice. I don't know what to do. I 100% wont cheat... should I tell the teacher that pretty much all the students are taking her for a fool? I guess I am just salty that some kids are willing to cheat and be dishonest and the ones who are truthful and just are the ones who really suffer. What would you do? Have you ever been in a situation like this?

What to do: Everyone in my college math class cheats?
I know exactly what you mean. You feel upset because they are getting better grades by being dishonest while you are making average grades doing it the right way. I was in the same situation last year when I took a government class. The professor seemed totally blind. He read his newspaper during every test with his head down. Everyone around me had tiny notecards with their essays written out ahead of time. I saw them cheating on every test. I was always the last to finish but I could not bring myself to cheat. I passed his course with a honest "B".

At the end I was happy I didn't cheat. I didn't have to and you shouldn't either.

You may be wondering if I ever said anything to that professor...

No. I believe he knew all along.
Reply:This has come up in my Math classes as well, because TI-83's and other calculators can have notes and formulas programmed into them, so I know how you feel. I won't cheat either. I'd rather fail honestly, than pass dishonestly.

If the teacher allows TI-83's, you have to ask yourself, is it cheating to use the calculator to its fullest potential? Teachers should be aware of the technology they allow. If the teacher wanted the calculator to be used only for the four scientific funtions (+ - x / ) then she should have specified that, or not allowed them at all.

If you think the teacher is unaware of the capabilities, ask her about it. Ask her if it's okay to put notes on your calculator, because other students have and you want to verify it's acceptable. If she's okay with it, you shouldn't feel bad about taking advantage of the opportunity.
Reply:Don't tell the teacher anything, she must be aware of it, and when you give your final tests you will be the winner, specially if they get a teacher who will not let them copy. ASnyway, in real life when they take up jobs, they'll be kicked out when their boss realies that they know nothing.
Reply:I think it was Aesop who said, "you can't keep a bird from fllying over other people's heads, but you can keep it from building a nest in your hair."
Reply:i probably will cheat like the rest of them. your teacher probably knows that you people cheat anyway.
Reply:I've been in this situation before, just tell your teacher. If you think your teacher already knows contact somebody else in the University, somebody who actually cares!!!

You can do this anonymously if you don't want people to find out.
Reply:Ask your instructor if it is indeed cheating to have the formulas in your calculator for the test and if indeed you may use it. You may have missed out on the opportunity to utilize this fairly. If it is cheating you are out nothing for asking, if it is not cheating the rest of the year's tests will be much easier. You may also mention if she considers it cheating that you believe that there are many students utilizing their calculators in that particular way.
Reply:Don't tell on them, that's bush league.

Get used to it, especially in the real world since this is not considered cheating (ends justify the means).
Reply:This is a tricky one. I have friend wo is an exam invigilator and cheating still goes on. If I were you I would find a counsellor to talk to at your uni and ask for advice. If it is on your conscience then report what you know. Are you allowed to use calculators?
Reply:tell nothing to ur teacher about ur classmates, they are not cheating the teacher but they r cheating themselves.

simply continue with ur work ,keep ur pace and work hard .

ur comrades may get good marks now ,but how can they get it in the external.

be honest ,

just work hard.

the fruits of the sweat are always sweet.

my best wishes r with u.
Reply:Um I would just shut my mouth and do what everyone else is doing...If you haven't realized yet, college is a big cheating fest...get with the game girl

Whocares seriously. If math isn't your major and their just making you take it b/c its part of the requirements and a way for them to take more money from you..just cheat and get thru it..college sucks anyways
