Okay so I'm a Senior in high school. I take all AP classes and one Honors class. I've done very well over the course of my high school career; I've even won writing awards. I want to go into Communications but I'm really worried about my grades.
Here are my grades:
AP English 4 = B+
AP Calc = C+
Journalism = A-
Religion = A
H. Gov't = B
AP Physics = C
I applied to:
BC
BU
Manhattanville
Manhattan College
Syracuse
Fairfield U
NYU
St. Johns (Queens)
Marist
Pace
My Physics teacher can't teach, even the validictorian of my class got a C. As for math, I study my butt off and when it comes to tests I choke.
Will my colleges still accept me?
I got 2 C's on my report card. What will college's think?
Don't worry - you'll definitely get accepted to the majority of the schools on your list (possibly all). A couple of C's isn't the end of your academic career. It's important for you to realize that you aren't taking the easy way out in school. You have challenged yourself by taking either honors or AP classes, and colleges like to see that more so than a student who has gotten straight A's in college prep courses. Also, colleges take into consideration other factors such as your grades, extracurricular activities, work experience, awards, volunteer work, SAT scores, AP exam scores, etc. In fact, you might be interested to know that there are a lot of schools that use other criteria besides grades when deciding who to admit. This is because a lot of students with similar grades wind up applying to the same schools, and the admissions officers need a way to distinguish between them.
Good luck with everything! I'm sure you'll get into a great school! :)
Reply:To be honest, they don't care about one or two stupid grades. It's about your overall GPA. So think of it either way.
Reply:Many colleges will still accept you. You're challenging yourself and taking AP courses, whereas you could have slacked off and taken the easiest classes possible and ended up with 'A's.'
Much of college acceptance depends on references, extracurriculars, classes taken, and SAT scores.
Good luck! those are fine choices for schools. i'm in college myself and I was looking into St. John's, Pace and BU.
Reply:i think so. calc isn't realy related to what you need to your expected major. so just make sure you don't fail the clas and you should be fine.
Reply:I agree, they're going to be looking more at what kinds of AP classes you took and your overall GPA throughout high school. Also, the SATs and/or ACTs will also be a major factor too, so don't worry about the Cs.. just worry about those when you get into college!
