i know the multiplications and the division seem to be the hardest to remember.my mom says there is a easier way.anyone know please tell me. i have all B's and a C in math.I want to bring that C up to a B or a A.
Can anyone help a fourth grader learn math easier.its divisions.?
Multiplication and division are basically just a matter of memorization. I know if you're just learning it, its hard. I remember having trouble as well when I first started. But keep at it. It will get frustrating at times, but keep at it. The problem with math is that as you go farther, you need to remember everything you've already learned. But otherwise, it can be real easy. Just keep at it and you'll do fine.
Reply:Hi!
You can bet, your mom was right. Let us start by multiplying easy and small numbers first. Once you get comfortable with these, we shall do more.
Let us say you need to multiply 23 and 27 (observe that the units digit in both the numbers add up to 10 and the tens digits are identical) All you have to do in this case is multiply the units digits, i.e., 3*7=21, this forms the last two digits of the product and then add one to the tens digit i.e.,1+2=3. Multiply 2(the tens digit) with 3(you obtained 3 in the previous step) 2*3=6, Hence 23*27=721.
Another example- 44*46=2024: 20 is obtained by multiplying 4, the tens digit by its successor, 5 and 24 is obtained by multiplying the units digits 4 and 6! Isnt that easy?
Reply:If your mom said there is an "easier way",why didn't you ask her?
Reply:Well, I don't think I can help you.But you can probably get a tutor for math.Have you ever heard of this place called "Kumon"?They tutor math and reading. You can go there if there are any in your area.
Reply:Hey,
I am in the 5th grade going on to the 6th grade I get A's in math so I can help email me christinemthehomiesliceofcake@yahoo.com.
Email me back soon.

Reply:You type very well for a forth grader, with clear, wel thought out, and linear statements. Division is simply multiplication in reverse, What times 2 equals 4? which is the same as 4 divided by 2, or 2 goes into 4 how many times? I think it's just how you look at the question that makes it confusing, division is a multiplication problem and you know how to do that, right?
Reply:Division really will not prove to be that important. That is what we have calculators for.
I am not sure there is really any easy way to do it, and I had problems with it too. I can't read numbers right.
Oh, did I mention, my degree is in Math, and I program for a living.
Problem with division is you need to keep all the numbers worked out.
142 divided by 7. well that is 20 then 2 divided by 7, and that makes...
Who cares.
Understand what division is, rather than the mechanics of doing it, and get to the next grade or two.
Honestly, division will not make a difference in you life as long as you understand the why. Keeping track of the numbers is trivia.
Reply:There is no fun part about the math in this grade. It is about the arithmetic, steps and practice. Kids find it hard, because it is boring. they do not want to deal with it. However, If you can make it interesting, then it is easier. if you can make insteresting story out of each step and problem, then you are getting there. Making connection between the math and the reality is the key.
