What math do i take as a freshman i college?
There are several factors which determine which math course you should take. One way to see which is appropriate for you is an math assessment. This is a test which your community college probably offers. The college will place you or suggest to you to take certain math classes according to what score you received on the test.

Another factor is your major. Some majors require you to take specific math courses, which often times have prerequisites you have to meet in order to even take them.

One more factor is your own personal feelings as to how strong you are with the math classes offered or suggested to you. If you think you may need help, you can probably take lower math classes.

Overall, meet with an academic advisor at your college to deal with your concerns. They are there to help and will do their best to make you comfortable with your education career and beyond.
Reply:it totally depends on what your major is...

some majors need very little math

Other will need lots

You have to find out the prerequisites for your major before you decide which class.

If you are just in general studies for now stat is a good class to start off with.

Its not as hard as people say... the key is to keep up with work and dont fall behind because everything builds on previous subjects.
Reply:You also need to take a writing course
Reply:The thing about college math, they don't allow you to use calculators. I am taking basic math, and I'm a complete idiot when it comes to math. Math hurts my brain. lol You usually have to take an acuplacer, and if you score high enough you don't need to take a certain math class. It mostly depends on your major, with my major I don't need calculus or anything like that, but more most other majors you do.
Reply:I would take college algebra and then statistics. You could take liberal arts math but if you're not sure what your major will be it's best to cover all your bases. Liberal arts is much easier than college algebra and statistics but not that many majors will count that as your math credit. I took stats two semesters ago and it was really difficult. I suggest getting extra help. I went to a community college in Tallahassee, Florida and I know that if you want to transfer to a four year university you need to make at least a c in stats. Hope I helped. good luck!
Reply:stat is supposed to be kind of hard, but it may not be...what are the other math classes available?
