Hey guys, well I haven't had math in over a year due to the way my high school is semester up here in Canada. I need help with 3 q's. Some of the steps taken to get the answers would help a lot. Here they are:
1. If the two solutions of the quadratic equation "4x^2 + 4x + k = 0" are equal, then k =
a) 1
b) 0
c) 4
d) a, where a is a real number
2. Bill can paint a wall in 5 hours. Connie can do it in 4 hours. How long would it take them to paint it together?
a) 9/20 hours
b) 4 1/2 hours
c) 20/9 hours
d) 3 hours
3. Translate the following to an algebraic equation using k as the constant of variation:
c varies jointly as d and the cube of e and inversely as the square of f.
a) c = (kd^3e^3) / f^2
b) c = (kde^3) / f^2
c) c = kde^3f^2
d) c = kd3e / 2f
If you don't know all, help with even just one would be great. Steps would be appriciated. :)
