Could someone please help me with these inequality math problems please.. thanks one person said the answers was 1.D 2.C 3.D 4.D but i sent them in and they were wrong

3. 4 %26lt; -4x divide both sides by -4 to get


x %26lt; -1


answer is A





4. -2(x - 4) %26gt; 5 - (x + 2) distribute on the left side


-2x + 8 %26gt; 5 - x - 2 which equals


-2x + 8 %26gt; 3 - x subtract 3 from both sides


-2x + 5 %26gt; -x add 2x to both sides


5 %26gt; x


answer is D

Reply:OK, just to be helpful next time you can write %26lt;= or %26gt;= for the underlines "%26lt;" and "%26gt;". Underlined "%26gt;" means "greater than or equal to" and underlines "%26lt;" is "less than or equal to."





Now, to the problems.





1. x - 1 %26gt;= -5





This will have a closed dot , since it's %26gt;=; open dots are used when the inequality is "less than" or "greater than".


Adding 1 to each side gives x%26gt;= -4, so the answer is B, closed dot and arrow to the right.





2. 2x + 3 %26lt;+ -7





This will also have a closed dot. Here, first subtract 3 from each side:





-2x %26lt;= -10


and divide by -2 (when you divide, the direction of the inequality reverses):


x %26gt;= 5





so its closed dot, arrow to the right, or B.





3. 4 %26lt; -4x





This will be an open dot. If you divide each side by -4 (remembering to reverse the inequality sign) you get:
