Math questions?

I homeschool my daughter: The only math I ever took was basic math 9 and I graduated in "86". Long time no math and I never took this type of math. I'm only asking for help so that I can help my daughter. PLEASE only serious answers, thank you

1.) In triangle ABC, AC=BC and m%26lt;c= 62 degress, the lonesgt side of the triangle is____ a. AC, b. BC, c. AB, d. AM

2.) Point T is the midpoint of JH, the coordinate of T is (0,5) and the coordinate of J is (0,2), the coordinate of H is___a. (0,8) b. (0,3) c. (0,7) d. (0,11)

3.) In a certian n-gone, the sum of the measures of the interior angles is 1,2060degress; n=_____ a.) 7, b.) 12, c.) 9, d.) 8

4.) four angles of a pentagon have measures of 85 degress, 90 degress and 110 degress, the smallest of all the exterior angles measures_____ a.) 5*, b.) 20*, c.) 70*, d.) 85*

5.) The measures of the angles of a quadrilateral are x, x, x, + 15* and x + 45*; x = ___ a.) 75*, b.) 105*, c.) 100*, d.) 95*

Math questions?
1) The triangle is isosceles.

The other two angles are equal.

Let m%26lt;A = x, then m%26lt;B = x

x+x+62 = 180

2x = 180-62

2x = 118

x = 59

The largest angle is 62, so the side opposite that angle has the longest length.

Answer: c) AB

2) Since the x-xoordinates are the same, you just have look at the y-coordinaes

2 + 3 = 5

5 + 3 = 8

Answer: (0,8)

3) The sum of the interior angles of an n-sided polygon is

180(n-2)

Set this equal to 1260 and solve for n

1260 = 180(n-2)

4)

5) Add all the angles together and set it equal to 180(4-2)

x + x + (x+15) + (x+45) = 180(4-2)

Solve for x.

Why are you removing your questions? They were not short questions and people actually spent time answering them.
Reply:i suck at math....i only no 1+1,,,which is = 7
Reply:1. c

Explanation: AC=BC =%26gt; m%26lt;a = m%26lt;b.

now, m%26lt;a+m%26lt;b+m%26lt;c = 180 deg =%26gt; 2(m%26lt;a)=180-62 =%26gt;m%26lt;a= 59 deg. now m%26lt;c greater than m%26lt;a and m%26lt;b. and the side opposite to greatest angle is the longest side. so answer in side AB.

2. a

Explanation: let coordinates of H be (x,y). according to mid point formula, (x+0)/2 =0 and (y+2)/2 =5. that gives x=0 and y=8. hence H is (0,8)

3. well i can't find an answer to this in the choices. it comes out to be 59 sided polygon. the formula used here is

(n-2)180 = sum of interior angles.

4. u have not provided all the four angles :). by the way the exterior angle is calculated as (180-m%26lt;interior angle). so for the above three given int. angles the ext. angles are 95, 90, 70 deg respectively.

5. a

Explanation: the sum of all angles of a quadilateral = 360 deg

=%26gt; 4x+60=360

=%26gt;x=300/4 =75 deg

nice to get so many ques on geometry after a long time. for further queries u can directly contact me. i am available on yahoo messenger. take care
Reply:the best service you can do for your daughter is to contact your local public school district and admit you need some assistance with this area. they should have tutors available, or at the very least you could enroll her for the math courses alone.

there may be local resourcses available, too, such as consortiums with other homeschooling parents. also, you might find some helpful resources here: http://lds-nha.org/

i'm sure you have very good reasons for homeschooling, but if these questions are too challenging for you, your daughter will be at a tremendous disadvantage when she approaches college.

good luck!
Reply:1. I'm not so sure about number one because if m%26lt;c = 62, then m%26lt;b must also be 62, hence m%26lt;a = 56, hence both AB and AC would be the longest. I hope someone would figure out where I went wrong.

2. Let H be (x1,y1)

(0+x1 , 2+y1) = (0 , 5)

2 2

0+x1 = 0

2

x1=0

2+y1 = 5

2

2+y1 = 10

y1 = 10-2

= 8

hence (x1,y1) = (0,8) = a

3.I think you typed out question no 3 wrongly because if the sum of the measure of the interior angles is 12060, then

(n-2)(180)=12060

(n-2)=67

n=69

I think you actually mean 1260 instead of 12060

hence

(n-2)(180)=1260

(n-2)=7

n=9 (c)

4.are you sure pentagon has only four angles?and you only listed three.my guess would be c)70 since that the exterior angles is derived from subtracting 180 with the interior angle, hence the largest interior angle would produce the smallest exterior angle (180-110=70)

5.the total interior angles of a quadrilateral is 360

hence x+x+x+15+x+45=360

4x+60=360

4x=300

x=75 (a)

p/s: I'm okay at maths so if you do have any problem, you can email me at nick_ramzi@yahoo.com. I'm willing to help out anytime. All the best!
Reply:Answer to 2nd %26amp; 5th question is 'a'. Rest i am not sure about
Reply:I'll try number 5, if the measures of the angles are x,x,x+15 and x+45 then x=

x+x+x+15+x+45=360

4x+60=360

4x=300

x=75

I also graphed question one and I think the answer is 0,8
