Maths: A man tosses 3coins A,B,C. if A shows a head the man scores 1point, if B shows a head he sores 2points?

and if C shows a head he scores 3point. Calculate the expectation of his score.

Maths: A man tosses 3coins A,B,C. if A shows a head the man scores 1point, if B shows a head he sores 2points?
A = 1 No of points on a head in A

B = 2 No of points on a head in B

C = 3 No of points on a head in C

P(A) = P(B) = P(C) = 1/2

Expected Score = P(A)A + P(B)B + P(C)C

= 1/2(1+2+3) = 3 points

Expected score = 3 points
Reply:Possible outcomes %26amp; scores are:

HHH - 6

HHT - 3

HTH - 4

THH - 5

HTT - 1

THT - 2

TTH - 3

TTT - 0

Each of these 8 outcomes is equally likely. The sum of the possible scores is 24, and so the average (which is also the expected value) is 3.
Reply:0.5*0.5*0.5 = 0.125 or 1/8
Reply:E(Score) = Sum {Score * P(Score) }

P(head with A) = .5 ---%26gt; Score is 1

P(head with B) = .5 ---%26gt; Score is 2

P(head with C) = .5 ---%26gt; Score is 3

E(Score) = (.5*1) + (.5*2) + (.5*3) = 3
